Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) Generalist

The Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) Generalist is a four-year undergraduate
degree program which specializes in special needs education with Applied Health Care that aims to provide a student with the resources, qualifications and experiences needed to become a certified special education teacher with background knowledge and skills in basic health care for children with additional needs. The program culminates with an extensive teaching practice in Lorma’s IEP Center, in various schools and institutions both local and international, under the mentorship of highly
experienced professional teachers.


Students who graduated from the Senior High School track can take the BSNEd program.

VISION
We envision our BSNEd Program as a leader and advocate for inclusion and diversity and a catalyst in producing quality graduates equipped with Christian values, knowledge and abilities utilizing a curriculum relevant to their field of specialization.
MISSION
To develop highly qualified and competent educators who serve to enhance the quality of life of students with additional needs through their advocacy, teaching, research and service.
OBJECTIVES

Within four (4) years after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs Education with Applied Health Care, the program aims to produce graduates who/can:
 

1. Lead and teach with passion and compassion and ethical values desired in the teaching profession.

2. Observe and demonstrate effective and professional written, verbal and non-verbal communication, from personal and interpersonal perspective.
3. Respond to the changing educational dynamics through the development of innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, ICT integration and resources for diverse learners.
4. Manifest the Lorma Core Values of leadership, excellence, integrity, solidarity and social concern.
5. Anchor lessons and instructional materials and skills in applied Health Care on institutional, local and international standards.

Dear Students,
Welcome to the Bachelor of Special Needs Education Program!
For the first time, we are welcoming students to this new academic
home – the College of Inclusive Education.

You are committing to a career path that is essential, not only for individual growth and ademand for knowledge and skills but also compassion, patience, respect and a deep commitment to inclusivity. You are stepping into roles that have the power to transform. You’ll be the teachers who educate and inspire, the researchers who create educational innovations and new insights and a leader who advocates inclusivity and diversity. This won’t always be easy, but it will be profoundly meaningful. Students of this program will gain the knowledge, strategies and hands-on experiences necessary to support learners with additional needs. It will culminate with an extensive teaching internship at the Lorma Basic Education Schools and other cooperating institutions under the guidance of highly experienced professional teachers.


The College of Inclusive Education is an exceptional choice to pursue BSNEd because of the diverse and inclusive educational setting which reflects both aspirations and limitless opportunities in teaching and learning, leadership development and community service.
I encourage all who want to help create the education of the future which positively impact the lives of children with additional needs to join us and learn together at the College of Inclusive Education. It has the purpose of preparing highly qualified, vibrant, compassionate and responsible professionals in Special Needs Education.
