major in Fitness and Sports Management

The College of Physical Therapy offers the Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) and the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences major in Fitness and Sports Management (BSESS-FSM).


The Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy (BSPT) is a four-year degree program consisting of general education and professional courses. It also includes an internship program that involves assigning students to different CHED– accredited affiliation centers that cater to various patient/ client populations. The intern/student, during the course of the training, must have exposure to a variety of opportunities that will prepare them for the different roles upon graduation.


Moreover, the BSPT program aims to produce physical therapists who are competent to fulfill professional responsibilities in the following areas: ( a) patient/ client care in various settings for different populations, (b) education of individuals and groups, (c) administration and management of physical therapy programs, institution and facilities, including private practice and delivery of home health care services, (d) lifelong learning for development of the professional, (e) health promotion, (f) advocacy for the advancement of the profession, (g) community service and development , and ( h) research.


On the other hand, the Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences major in Fitness and Sports Management (BSESS-FSM) is designed to prepare students for careers in areas of fitness and sports coaching and management. The program is geared towards exploring the science of physical activity to help athletes become better athletes, help those injured to safely return to activity, to research new approaches to exercise and physical activity and how to manage sports facilities.


The students will explore a variety of career and professional practice paths that lead to becoming an exercise and sports specialists such as; Fitness and Recreation Manager, Sports, Fitness and Wellness Facilities Manager, Sports, Fitness and Recreational Events Manager, Sports Tourism Officer, and Fitness, Sports, and Recreation Entrepreneur among others.

The College of Physical Therapy envisions to be a premier training center for physical therapy and sports sciences fostering a learning environment that emphasizes Christian values, quality education and training that cultivates leadership skills essential for national development and global impact.
MISSION
The College of Physical Therapy is committed to providing a Christian-inspired, quality-driven, and service-oriented education and training through academic programs, and hands-on experiences producing graduates who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to individuals and communities anywhere in the world.
OBJECTIVES
1. To provide excellence in education through the delivery of a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge with practical skills that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, and evidence-based practice among students.

2. To cultivate Christian values and ethical practice by instilling a strong foundation of Christian values, emphasizing compassion, integrity, and respect while promoting ethical decision-making and professional conduct in all aspects of education and practice.

3. To develop leadership skills and prepare graduates to become leaders and advocates in the field of physical therapy and sports sciences.

4. To support lifelong learning by promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development, research and innovation, and the pursuit of advanced degrees and specialty certifications.

5. To promote community engagement, develop and support community-based programs and services that contribute to national development.

6. To foster a global perspective that encourages cross-cultural exchange and international collaborations that prepare students to work effectively in diverse cultural settings.
