COLLEGE OF RESPIRATORY THERAPY
Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy

In 2008, Lorma Colleges introduced the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRESPT) as a new academic program, which received full recognition from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in 2011. Initially, this program was housed under the College of Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and Health Services Management (CPT-HSM). However, significant organizational changes took place in 2009 when the College of Management and Accountancy (CMA), now known as the College of Business (COB), underwent a reorganization. During this reorganization, the Health Services Management program, which was categorized as a management program, was transferred to CMA. This left the BS Physical Therapy and BS Respiratory Therapy programs to form the
College of Physical and Respiratory Therapy (CPRT).

The progression and development of these programs were marked by another milestone on July 1, 2024. On this date, the BS Respiratory Therapy program gained independence and was established as its own department. This structural change led to the formation of the College of Respiratory Therapy (CORT), allowing it to stand alone as a dedicated college within Lorma Colleges.

Throughout its history, the program has evolved from being part of a combined college to becoming an independent entity that underscores its importance and commitment to providing specialized education in respiratory therapy. This transformation not only highlights the growth and recognition of respiratory therapy as a crucial medical field but also demonstrates Lorma Colleges’ dedication to adapting and expanding its academic offerings to meet the changing needs of healthcare education. The College of Respiratory Therapy now stands ready to continue its mission of training skilled professionals who are vital to patient care in various medical settings.
